Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in a village near the forest. Whenever she went out, the little girl wore a red riding cloak, so everyone in the village called her Little Red Riding Hood.

One morning, Little Red Riding Hood asked her mother if she could go to visit her grandmother as it had been a while since they'd seen each other.

"That's a good idea," her mother said. "We usually visit grandma twice a month. However, because of common tests, you have not visited Grandma this month! She would be upset if she doesn't see you soon!"
["Rate" in the story: 2 visits in ONE month]

Based on what you understand about the term "rate", you will now continue to build the story from where the last person has commented... Everyone will contribute to one part of this Marathon Story. Your part of the story should have at least one description related to to RATE.

"I'm sorry grandma, I have my common tests early this month."
"Oh, how have you done for your tests?" Grandma asked curiously, at the same time cared for her beloved grand daughter.
"Results are not out yet be no worries! I'm confident in my work! And guess what? Now that holiday is coming after the exams, I will be able to visit you 4 times per week!"

  6. "It has been such a long time since we just sat down and talked, I have been so busy working hard for the common tests. I have been studying 4 hours a day! I feel so guilty." Little Red Riding Hood sighed sadly.
"You know what, let's do something awesome!"

"Let's play a game of chess!" Grandma added. Little red riding hood agreed and Grandma took out her MacBook (twist in the story, remember!) and went to the chess application.
Grandma said, "It took me a long time for me to earn enough money to buy one of these laptops, because I only earn $1000 a month, and saved only a fifth of that. That's why I treasure it so much (and you should too!)."
    They played happily together.

  8. After an hour of playing chess, grandma finally won little red riding hood.
"Hey grandma, you're really good at this game! Could you teach me your tricks?" asked little red riding hood.
"Sure! I'm only good at this game because I play it around 4 times a day. An old woman like me has nothing much to do at home, anyway." replied grandma.
(Since both Boon & I used Joel's comment, I deleted mine cause it's easier to just use Boon's ^_^ )

  9. Then Grandma's Taiwanese TV show started showing, it was the 1000th Episode. Little Red asked "Grandma! How long have you been watching this show?" Grandma thinks and replies "Oh, for about five years." (200 episodes per year)

  10. "That's a long time!" Little Red exclaimed.
Since Little Red found the show boring, she decided to do something else. She realised that there were ants crawling up the wall and each ant would crawl up the wall for 5 seconds before another one would appear.

  11. after getting even more bored, she went to the terrace and read a 372 page book. she started reading that book two days ago and wants to finish it on that day while dividing it equally on every day day. but unfortunately, she only read 220 pages in the first two days. so she had to change her rate of reading from 124 pages per day to 152 pages per day. which is a difference of 28. thats too much change for her since most of the time that day would be spent on having quality time with her granny. suddenly, she heard a rumbling sound and soon realized that it was coming from a train. which is about to enter a tunnel. little red riding hood, being fond of math (mr johari would love to read that 4 words), she decided to calculate the distance of the tunnel. using her watch as a time keeper. So, this is what she found out.
    she knows that=
-the train is 30m is length
-the time the train takes to be fully in side the tunnel from when the front enters is 2 seconds
-the train takes about 3 minuted 28 second to travel through the tunnel from

    therefore,
    30m/2sec= 15m/s (the train's speed)
since the measurement is inconsistent because it is measured when it is fully entered to when the front leaves the tunnel, we can change it to when it is fully entered and when it is fully outside. by adding->
    3min 28sec + 2sec = 3min 30sec = 210sec
    210sec x 15m/s = 3150m = 3.15km
So, the tunnel is 3.15km long.
and with that she finally understand how to use rate to calculate things. she thought it was fun and went looking for more rate related questions in the daily life of old granny.

  12. Granny went into the kitchen after the Taiwanese Tv Show, she went to the kitchen and baked some cookies for Little Red Riding Hood. After an hour, she completed a batch of 20 cookies and gave them to her beloved granddaughter.

  13. Later, she went to watch a soap opera and made 50 chocolates and gave them to Little Red Riding Hood

  14. Little Red Riding Hood then decided to go to the market with Grandma to sell the cookies and chocolates. They sold 5 cookies per customer and 10 chocolates per 3 customers.

  15. Then, Granny and Little Red Riding Hood went for a walk in the garden. She counted the trees and found that there are 10 trees per kilometre along the road.

  16. Little Red Riding Hood then saw and old abandoned MG42. She found a belt of 50 rounds by the side and decided to try it out. She found out that it fired at 1200 rounds per minute after calculating the amount of rounds used up in a certain amount of time. (Epic twist in story XD)

  17. later granny and little red riding hood went to the village and counted the number of people leaving the village tavern and found out that three people would leave for every five that entered

  18. Upon reaching the village, they entered the shooting range. Little red riding was inspired by how her Grandma was so good at handling the machine gun (MG42) ; she tried out the pistol. Though the shots were slower than a machine gun; she had great accuracy and became the main attention of the people. 2 people/minute came into the shooting range because of her popularity. However, it became too crowded and they decided to stop shooting and go home.

  19. On their way home, little red riding hood saw many people crowding around near the village entrance so she and grandma walked towards the crowd to find out what was going on. Everyone was crowding around an wood sculptor. He was amazingly fast and skilled making 2 miniature sculptures a minute. While the sculpture was sculpting, his partner was selling 2 miniatures sculptures for a dollar. Little red riding hood just loved the sculptures and asked " Grandma may I please buy 2 sculptures? " Little red riding hood's grandma drew a one doar note from her purse and passed it to her with a gentle smile on her wrinkled face.

  20. They were about to reach home when Grandma accidentally dropped both sculptures but luckily there was another sculptor nearby and he offered to repair both damaged sculptures at a price of 2 dollars.

  21. When they returned home, things resumed as per normal. As for Grandma's cleaning routine, she had to clean every nook and cranny of the house every twice a week
